Cataloging

The Cataloging Section provides online and physical access to library materials for library patrons in a timely manner. The Cataloging Section maintains the online public access catalog and processes all materials for use by patrons.

General Information

The cataloging, classification and end-processing of all library materials acquired is the responsibility of the Technical Services Department. Materials are processed as quickly as possible, according to the established workflow routines; many new books are processed with 24- 48 hours of arriving in the library. Materials which cannot be processed so quickly may be made available for circulation within 24 hours if a patron puts in an In-Process Request form at a Public Service Desk for a book with In Process status. Materials requiring original cataloging, such as theses, dissertations, and seminar papers may also be requested if they have been received by the Library (usually two months after the thesis was turned in at the Graduate School.)
