Online Resources
The Library provides access to a wide range of online resources, including:
- Classic Nugget -- the online catalog
- Mobile Nugget -- Nugget for smart phones and other mobile devices
- Encore Nugget -- a new way to search Nugget
- Research Pro -- search a selection of databases at one time
- Over 300 subscription electronic databases
- Thousands of electronic journals (e-journals).
Access to Online Resources
Access to Nugget and the Library’s subscription online resources is available to students, faculty and staff from computers in the Collaborative Learning Center (CLC), the Technology Support Center, and in the Media & Microforms area.
Off campus (remote) access to Nugget along with databases and websites designated as “free” is available to anyone with an Internet connection. Remote access to most of the Library’s subscription electronic databases and e-journals is available to current UTEP faculty, staff, and students only via the following methods:
- The Campus VPN (broadband users only)
- The Library’s Proxy Server.

If you are using the VPN and are having problems connecting to the network, contact the campus Help Desk or (915) 747-5257.
To report a technical problem with any of the Library’s electronic databases or e-journals, contact a member of the E-Resources Team. Telephone assistance is available between 8:00 a.m. and 6:00 p.m., M-F, by calling either Lisa Borden at (915) 747-6709 or Jason Moore at (915) 747-6706. If no-one is available to take your call in person, please leave a message or send us an e-mail and we will respond to your query as soon as possible on the next business day.
